2011 Community Service Award
Barrie Out of the Cold (BOOTC)

Barrie Out of the Cold is honoured to be the recipient of the David Busby Street Centre Community Service Award for 2011. This tribute is direct reflection to the hard work and dedication that each and every volunteer in our program puts forth. Our volunteers carry out all aspects of leadership and administration in our operations, and without them there would be no Barrie Out of the Cold.

2011 Founder's Award
Mary & Keith Caldwell

Mary grew up on the Orr Lake Reforestation, Hillsdale, where her dad was the Superintendent. After High School, she worked at The Anglican Church Army in Toronto, as the Office Assistant. This is where Mary first learned about the issues with homelessness. She volunteered with Inner City Boys’ Club, run from St. Peter’s Church, Carlton Street. Working at Church Army she also saw at first-hand the workings of Beverley Lodge, Missions to Seamen, Etobicoke Girls’ Residence, and St. Stephen’s House.
