5th Annual Street Light Gala 2010

A Message from the Executive Director and Chair of the Board

Thank you to everyone who was able to participate in our 5th Annual Street Light Gala.  Through the attendance of a sold out crowd, silent auction donors and many sponsors we were able to raise a record breaking$30,000.

The evening was a celebration of the David Busby Street Centre and particularly an opportunity to honour some of the outstanding individuals who have made a significant difference in our ability as an agency to address a means of poverty reduction.  Congratulations to Memorial Award Recipient, Norah Busby, Founders’ Award Recipient, Many Hillyard, Community Service Award Recipient, Mark Atkin and Volunteer of the Year Award Recipient, Joan Lafrance.

We appreciate those of you who were able to express your support for our Centre in the Gala Tribute Journal.  Through the combined efforts and exceptional patience of our fundraising team, Rhubarb Media and Kwik Kopy Printing our Tribute Journal came to life.

The evening not only raised much needed funds for our Centre but further raised awareness of the irreplaceable value of the David Busby Street Centre as the vessel used by our community to reach our vulnerable citizens to ensure that we are all receiving unconditional sustenance.

As you may know, one of the things that we are very passionate about is empowering the homeless and those most vulnerable in our community.  We are proud of what is being accomplished in Barrie and Simcoe County by the David Busby Street Centre.  We are inspired by the dedication of our volunteers, the loyalty and passion of our staff, our alliances with our community partners, and the courage and trust of our participants.  Your generosity and participation in our fundraising efforts shows the true spirit of a community that genuinely cares.

With pride and gratitude,

Sara Peddle, Executive Director & Carson Lutz, Chair of the Board
