David Busby Street Centre
PRESS RELEASE
Welcome to the New busbycentre.ca
WEBSITE LAUNCH
After several months of strategically planning and developing, the David Busby Street Centre (DBSC) is pleased to announce the launch of their new website www.busbycentre.ca. The site restructure was made possible by “The Douglas Utting Foundation” through program funding received for the annual “Visibly Unseen” Photo Journal Exhibit and with the additional in-kind offering and expertise from “Rhubarb Media”, one of our Community Partners.
The Douglas Utting Foundation is a family foundation established in 1985 in memory of Douglas Utting, who struggled with a mood disorder commonly known as depression. “It is the hope of the Douglas Utting Foundation that our support will allow staff to focus more on program services and client support rather than fund raising administrative functions”.
The focus of the redesign was to expand the “Visibly Unseen” exhibit to an online setting to reach a much wider and diverse audience through social media and other online channels. “Visibly Unseen” is a collaborative exhibition between Georgian College, the upcoming photojournalistic photography students of Georgian College’s Digital Photography Imaging Program, Barrie Campus and the real experts on poverty and homelessness. Intended to be an exposé and a real look from the inside out, it is a glimpse into the lives of participants of the Busby Centre, some are beautiful and some are heart wrenching. The “Visibly Unseen” will launch on May 10th, 2011 at City Hall Rotunda beginning at 7:00pm.
The New site is user-friendly, has increased functionality and recognizes the growing numbers of community partners, sponsors and supporters by integrating links directly to their sites. www.busbycentre.ca also provides helpful, useful, accessible information about the DBSC and the vital programs and services they provide to the City of Barrie and to the County. One of the new features allows you to RSVP tickets for our upcoming 2011 Street Light Gala.
Chad Ballantyne, Creative Director of Rhubarb Media states "when Resource Development Coordinator, Yolanda Gallo approached Rhubarb Media over a year ago we were eager to develop a relationship with the DBSC. We saw the need to improve their brand image, maximize their awareness potential and develop a user-friendly, content management site. Not only are they updated with a fresh new look, they have raised the bar to attract more supporters and steward the ones they have.” Rhubarb Media is an organization focused on giving back to the community through support and sponsorship. The DBSC is one of several organizations we support because of the grassroots work they do”. The David Busby Street Centre is a community-based organization that aims to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and our community as a whole by reducing the challenges associated with poverty, addiction and mental health issues.
